Meet the Newhouse Group
Ruth Seroussi, Principal, Broker & Attorney
For the last 8 years, Ruth has represented clients purchasing and selling their residential homes, income properties and condominiums, as well as buyers and sellers in commercial transactions. Ruth specializes in paying close attention to client needs and wants and going above and beyond to ensure they have a positive experience and are satisfied with the outcome of their broker-client relationship. Ruth recognizes that buying a home is a big step, regardless of whether it is their first home or one of many. She takes pride in working to minimize anxiety and maximize benefits for her clients.
Over the course of the last 22 years, Ruth has also worked as an attorney for several non-profit organizations, including environmental, consumer and democracy organizations, and for civil rights and fair housing organizations. Ruth also spent the last 18 years working as a labor and employment attorney and general business litigator for various firms, including Buchalter PC. She is now a shareholder at the Newhouse Law Group PC and represents a wide range of clients, including mortgage brokers and lenders, residential and commercial brokerage houses, buyers and sellers, and more. Her legal practice in the private and non-profit sector has given Ruth a special insight into the legal side of real estate, as well as in the art of negotiating deals and resolving conflicts and issues that invariably arise during the course of any real estate transaction.
Ruth received her Bachelor of Science in Industrial and Labor Relations (BSILR) from Cornell University's School of Industrial and Labor Relations in 1992. Ruth earned her Juris Doctorate (JD) degree in 1995 from the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law. While in law school, Ruth served as the Chief Articles Editor for the Environmental Law Journal and as Vice President of the Public Interest Law Foundation.
Ruth is a member of the California Bar and a licensed real estate broker. She is a member of the National and California Association of Realtors, serves as an advisory board member for Cornell’s Institute for Hospitality Labor and Employment Relations, is President of Venice Arts Board of Directors, Secretary of the Friends of Coeur D’Alene Booster Club, a member of the Venice Chamber of Commerce and its Education Committee, an AYSO soccer coach, a Pony League Baseball Team Parent and serves on various other local and national non-profit organization boards.
Ruth lives and works in Venice with her husband, Mike, their sons, Holden and Dylan, and their dog Marley. She loves travel and the outdoors.
Mike Newhouse, Principal, Broker & Attorney
Mike Newhouse is in his third decade of practice as an Attorney and Broker and is a “Super Lawyer” as voted by his peers and Los Angeles Magazine.
Mike focuses on representing developers, landlords, tenants, property managers and financial institutions in all aspects of commercial and residential real estate transactions, litigation and land use issues, including environmental compliance and adaptive resuse. Areas of focus include shopping centers, office and industrial, residential subdivisions, multi-family, hotels and golf courses.
Mike is a member of the California Bar and a licensed real estate broker.
Mike is also an active member of his community. Former Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti appointed Mike to the City’s West Los Angeles Area Planning Commission where he served as Commission President from 2017-2022. In 2024, Mayor Karen Bass appointed Mike to the City’s Citywide Planning Commission. Mike is also a longtime member of the Board of Directors of Venice Arts, President Emeritus of the Venice Neighborhood Council Co‑Founder of the Venice Art Crawl, and a founder and former Chair of the Westside Regional Alliance of Councils (WRAC), a coalition of all 13 Los Angeles Neighborhood and Community Councils on the Westside of Los Angeles.
Mike is a magna cum laude graduate of the University of Southern California (B.A. 1996) and the Northwestern School of Law of Lewis and Clark College (J.D. 2000). He also serves as an Adjunct Professor of Law at USC’s Gould School of Law.
Mike lives in Venice with his wife and business partner, Ruthie, sons Holden and Dylan, and their dog Marley. He is an active traveler, athlete, outdoor enthusiast and musician, who plays Bass and Guitar for The Potential Suitors, a Los Angeles based Blues Country-Punk band The Potential Suitors
